Race Track

2011

Race Track was an art installation in 2 adjoining rooms for kids and fun-loving adults. From a large steel racetrack, a remote controlled car equipped with a 3D stereographic camera transmitted the camera signal in real-time to an adjoining room where a driver in a sport car seat could see the 3D camera signal on a large projection screen wearing 3D glasses and controlling the race car with a steering wheel, gas pedal, break pedal and gear stick. The 3D projection gave the driver a sense of being "inside" the race car in a setting that is usually related to computer games. Futhermore, the computer games setting was enforced by visual overlays of virtual 3D elements. The audience watching the race track could participate by relocating physical objects functioning as obsticles on the race track. The art installation, Race Track, investigated playfull use of 3D technologies in new combinations.

Racetrack was produced by artist Jette Gejl in collaboration with CAVI and Mads Wahlberg and was shown at the museum Kunsten in Aalborg.
