AI in the Hands of the Citizens was a research project that aimed to introduce citizens to the wide range of creative possibilities enabled by Generative Artificial Intelligence. The project was a collaboration between the public libraries in Randers, Aabenraa, and Aalborg, and CAVI.
As part of the project, CAVI developed a prototype webpage that demonstrated how a book and its illustrations could be AI-generated based on a series of simple user choices. The system shows how different prompts can lead to vastly different end results. The user begins by selecting an existing, well-known book. The system then generates a prompt that could have served as the basis for creating that book. The user is given the opportunity to make a series of changes to this prompt - such as adjusting the mood, genre, or characters. When the user presses a button, the system generates a new version of the book, presenting it with a new title, a blurb, background music, and an audio reading of an excerpt, creating a rich and engaging experience of the AI-generated work.
AI in the Hands of the Citizens was funded by The Agency for Culture and Palaces (Slots- og Kulturstyrelsen).
