Zeitgeist is a site-specific light installation created for KØN Gender Museum by artist Signe Klejs in collaboration with CAVI. The work can be experienced every night after dark on the museum’s facade. Sixteen windows are illuminated with a dynamic, wavy light pattern - a luminous visualization of the wind - based on real-time wind data captured by an anemometer on the building’s roof.
The installation is a visual metaphor for how trends and opinions shift “as the wind blows.”
Its color palette is inspired by two large leaded and painted glass window panes from 1908, located in the museum’s stairwell. By integrating interactive technologies, the piece creates a facade that evolves continuously while harmonizing with the historic architecture of the old town hall.
Zeitgeist was initiated by KØN Gender Museum (formerly the Women’s Museum). The technical solutions were developed by Signe Klejs in collaboration with CAVI, and the project was generously supported by the Salling Foundations.
