A Touch of Limfjorden

2022

For a brief period, visitors at Struer Museum - home to a significant collection of paintings, especially known for the Limfjord painters and landscape paintings from the western part of the Limfjord, including Toftum Bjerge and Venø, with works by artists such as Jens Søndergaard, Knud Eel, Knud Agger, Johan Sejg, and Michael Sørensen - had the opportunity to design their own audio environment based on audio samples inspired by the paintings in the exhibition.

Ten speakers were carefully placed around the exhibition room, each connected to a central computer running CAVI’s Sound-O-Matic software. A touchscreen, positioned at the center of the exhibition, allowed visitors to select audio samples and move and organize them in the room in real time. Certain interactive elements included multiple samples and animations that mimicked small scenarios, such as a family’s trip to the beach. Others consisted of ambient sounds of animals and insects that enhanced the imagination sparked by viewing the paintings.
